What was the brief?
To extensively extend and renovate a structurally sound but dated property, nearly doubling its size and transforming it into a modern, functional home tailored to the family’s long-term needs. The brief included the creation of more usable space, improved flow, and high-spec finishes throughout.
What were the steps taken to achieve the brief?
- Designed and built a two-storey side extension featuring:
- A new master suite with en-suite and walk-in wardrobe
- Ground floor utility room and dedicated home office
- Removed the entire rear wall to create a 14-metre flat-roof extension housing an open-plan kitchen, lounge, and dining area
- Constructed a new front porch to enhance the entrance and kerb appeal
- Removed internal walls and chimney breasts to reconfigure the layout and add additional en-suites
- Installed a new electrical system and energy-efficient underfloor heating powered by an air-source heat pump
- Designed and built a bespoke “speakeasy” bar hidden within the kitchen cabinetry for a fun and unique personal touch
- Undertook extensive landscaping including:
- Over 100m² of porcelain patio
- Cobbled planting area
- Re-levelled garden with a new boundary wall
- Finished with a 10mm golden stone driveway for a high-end look
Were there any challenges along the way?
Working on a live property while coordinating major structural changes — including the removal of the entire rear wall — required precise planning and phasing. Our team managed the complexity with careful scheduling and close client communication to ensure minimal disruption and a smooth delivery.
