Who was the customer?
The client was a homeowner in Cringleford, Norwich, who approached us after we successfully completed an extension for a close family member.
Where was the project located?
Cringleford, a sought-after suburb on the outskirts of Norwich, Norfolk.
How did they hear about you, and why did they choose you?
We had previously worked with a close family member on a successful project. That experience helped establish a strong foundation of trust, making Birch Construction the natural choice for this full renovation.
What was the brief?
To completely renovate a tired 1920s property and transform it into a bright, modern family home — while incorporating personal and cultural touches meaningful to the client.
What were the steps taken to achieve the brief?
- Full strip-out and rebuild of the original property
- Removal and repositioning of internal walls to create larger, more functional living spaces
- Full electrical rewire and installation of a new heating system
- New kitchen and bathrooms fitted throughout
- Bespoke hidden utility room built behind custom-designed larder cupboards in the kitchen
- Integration of cultural artifacts into the interior design to reflect the client’s heritage
- Exterior re-rendering and construction of a new garden wall
- Laying of 80m² porcelain patio and installation of a 10mm golden stone driveway for a premium finish
Were there any challenges along the way?
Given the rundown state of the property, the project required a complete overhaul. While this brought several structural and logistical challenges, our experience with period properties allowed us to handle each one efficiently, delivering high-quality results on time.
Who worked on this project?
Jake led the project, supported by Birch’s trusted team of electricians, plumbers, carpenters, decorators, and landscapers. The entire team worked closely with the client to ensure that both the functional and personal aspects of the home were brought to life.
